Properties of concrete with slag-limestone cement
Abstract
The paper presents the results of tests of slag-limestone cements prepared by mixing Portland clinker with blast furnace slag and calcareous stone of variable fineness. The compressive strength was tested and pore size distribution was determined using mercury porosimetry. Specimens made of slag-limestone cement were exposed to sulphate and chloride environment for a period of 360 days, after which corrosion products were investigated using a scanning electron microscope. The compressive strength, water absorption and frost resistance of concrete made of slag-limestone cement were also tested. It was found that the replacement of clinker with limestone improved workability of concrete mix. An addition of limestone reduced the compressive strength of mortar and concrete. Durability of concrete was similar to durability of concrete containing cement CEM III/A 32,5N-LH-HSR/NA.
