Abstract

The article presents the results of dynamic loading tests of an innovative pavement structure constructed on a special test site. Two novel mixtures incorporating the cold-recycling technology with bituminous emulsion and foamed bitumen were used. They contained a dedicated (three-component) hydraulic binder, further referred to as the innovative binder. Particular research effort was devoted to the analysis of pavement deflection measurements obtained using a Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) device. The tests were performed on four test sections using mineral-cement mixtures with foamed bitumen (MCAS) and mineral-cement mixtures with bituminous emulsion (MCE), whereas two sections incorporated the innovative hydraulic binder and two sections incorporated only cement. The obtained test results indicated that mixtures containing the innovative binder displayed greater deflections. This fact reflects lower mixture stiffness, which, in consequence, is associated with mitigation of fatigue and cracking.
