Abstract

Since a screen application as noise abatement measure is not a cheap solution, the detailed analysis of its effectiveness in the urban system has to be performed. Taking into account only a shadow of direct wave is not enough in an urban system as multiple reflections are basis of propagation process. A screen introduction into an urban system results in not only a shadow appearance but also a screen itself takes part in multiple reflections as an addition plane. The decision about a screen in the urban system has to be proceeded by the quantitative analysis of its effectiveness along the whole facade of the protected building The analysis can be performed by use of simulation program such as the here-applied PROP7. By use of this tool the influence of urban system detailed parameters, among them building arrangement. and a road model parameters can be investigated.
